Hey! For those of you who don’t know, I am a member of an organization called Black Women Who Plan and Create (BWWPC). This summer, BWWPC hosted Facebook Live Sessions as a fundraiser for their first National Planning Conference! Yours truly facilitated the Hand Lettering course 🙂
One of the courses that really struck home with me was the organization course facilitated by Alaia Williams. Alaia is a professional organizater and she is AWESOME!!! In one of the sessions, she told us to create “systems” in our homes and/or offices. She also told us to start small so that we wouldn’t get discouraged or overwhelmed. Well, I started super small with my kitchen sink. LOL!!! I know you’re probably thinking “what does this have to do with lettering?” Short answer is that I used my lettering in this organization project!!!
Like most of you, the first thing I did naturally was head on over to Pinterest to get some pinspiration on under the kitchen sink organization systems. If you have never used Pinterest, you are totally missing out! Pinterest is AMAZING!!! I also went to YouTube and came across the fabulous At Home With Nikki’s under the kitchen sink organization video and I knew exactly what I wanted to do! I watched a few more videos for inspiration and ideas and got busy!
If you are a hand letterer or want to improve your lettering, I’m going to offer a little advice – start in your home. I mean…if you don’t like the way your lettering looks in your own home…who else will?! Right?!?! Right! Not only does it just make sense…it will definitely save you money!!! You won’t need to purchase any signage, stickers or use your Cricut…you can actually letter on your bins or use labels to showcase your lettering around your home.
I decided to go with clear acrylic storage so that my lettering would shine through! I purchase the canisters with the teal tops from Target and I got the acrylic stackable drawers and cleaning caddy from Amazon. I used a good ole Painters Pen I purchased from Hobby Lobby to letter with.
I couldn’t be more happy with the results! Not only is the area organized, but it looks really pretty!!! It makes me want to clean the kitchen as well as keep it organized…not only that; I was able to practice my lettering which is what this was all about anyway 🙂
I hope that this post inspires you to use your lettering in your home…and maybe get a little more organized 😉

I really like the neatness; definitely something I’m going to try when we get our house.

candiplansThank you candiplans!!! I definitely looks better than it did before. You’re going to be amazed at how many different projects you’ll come up with when you get your house!!! I’ve been in my house for almost 4 years and I think of something different to buy, create, etc almost weekly. LOL!!!
