Hey pretty girl! Spring has finally sprung and I am still kinda getting ready for it wardrobe wise. A couple of posts ago I shared my Spring 2022 Wish List. In today’s post I am sharing my Spring wardrobe essentials. These are the wardrobe must haves for me. The things that I pull out of my wardrobe on a daily basis during the spring months. Now, I live in the south which means that spring evolves to summer very quickly. I mean, you’ll literally blink and it’s 90 degrees outside! I’m not complaining about that at all, I’m just sharing my slight frustration with the fact that it gets hot way too fast down here. Wait…that probably was a complaint. LOL!!!
I’m not sure how much longer I’ll be working from home, but I have been trying my best to get fully dressed as of late. It makes me feel better and I feel like I’m more productive when I’m cute 😉 There are a few “must haves” that I feel I need in my wardrobe to get me all ready for spring! Those must haves include:
OUTERWEAR
I’ll be real honest with you. I love outerwear. I think it has a lot to do with the fact that I’m a northern gal (Detroit native) and up there, you have to have coats for every season and every occasion. Needless to say, I love outerwear – it’s kinda my thing.
First on my list is a trench coat. I’ve always had a trench coat in my wardrobe, but a few years ago I bought a real-deal trench coat. I mean a water resistant, khaki colored trench coat. I think trench coats are essential in climates like mine where it not too cold, not too hot…but also rain is expected. Trench coats can set off the little black dress, jeans and flats or a cute jogging suit. If you’re looking to elevate your spring wardrobe a little, bit I recommend adding a trench coat this spring. You won’t regret it.
I bought mine from J. Crew. I didn’t see the exact style that I have on their website, but I did find the New Icon Trench Coat. That is a style element that will be helpful on rainy days. I also found this Essential Cotton Trench Coat at Banana Republic.
Next up is a denim jacket. I LIVE in denim jackets in the spring. They pair well with dresses and boots or a t-shirt and leggings. I got my current denim jacket from J. Crew, but I have had one that I have been rocking since college from Old Navy. LOL! Denim jackets are the perfect staple to compliment your spring wardrobe.
The last element in the category is a blazer. You know how I shared by love for heels…I also love a blazer. I haven’t purchased a blazer in while (working from home and all), but I have had my eye on a Veronica Beard blazer for the past year.
TOPS
Tops are a very important wardrobe staple. They allow you to switch a look up in a snap. You can go from really casual by wearing a t-shirt, to girls night out with an off the shoulder top. For me, I have to have a blue and white striped top and a white tee. My fave white tee is by Madewell. You can find it here. I really like this t-shirt because of the hemline. It’s kinda swooped (I’m not sure if that’s the right term) so it hangs low in the front which allows you to tuck it in and it hangs low in the back which covers your butt. Here is a really cute blue and white striped top that I like from Loft. For some reason it screams springtime and summer here I come to me!
My must have bottoms during spring are a pair of jeans and leather leggings. Over the past year, I have been rocking high-waisted mom jeans from American Eagle. They are extremely comfortable and the high waist allows me the flexibility to wear a crop top (although I don’t own one) or even tuck in a longer top.
I added a pair of faux leather leggings to my wardrobe last year while they were on sale at Nordstrom. I had been hearing so much about the Spanx Faux Leather leggings that I had to give them a try. They are definitely comfortable, but they do roll down. I don’t regret buying them. They were a great addition to my wardrobe.
Much like a blue and white top, a floral dress is a must for me during spring! I LOVE wearing dresses and I have a ton of floral dresses in my wardrobe. My fave place to shop for floral dress (dresses period) is Loft. They are reasonably priced and there are always a ton of options. Here is a dress I’m thinking about adding to my wardrobe. I bought these super cute dresses from Nordstrom Rack last week that I can’t wait to wear once it gets a little warmer. They are both from a brand that is new to me – Melloday. I purchased the Floral Eyelet Ruffle Trim Mini Dress and the Melloday Elbow Length Sleeve Poplin Midi Babydoll Dress. I’m really excited to wear both of them to Sunday brunch with the girls!
shoes
There are a few different styles of shoes that I always wear during spring. A pair of flats, a cute white pair of sneakers and a pair of rainboots. Oh how I LOVE rain boots! Here are a few flats that I’ve had my eye own in preparation for spring. I’m not really a person who wears sandals during the spring (unless it’s for a special event or activity) so I typically go for cute flats and maybe espadrilles.
I hope you enjoyed reading this post! What are some of your spring wardrobe essentials? Please share them in the comments!
’til next time!
