Hey! Welcome back to the blog! 2023 is here and I’m so excited to share everything with you. I want to start the year off by talking about style and helping you find your “pearlfect style.” You may be asking yourself “what is pearlfect style?” Well let me tell you. Pearlfect style is your unique style in its perfect state. That means, your style when you are:
- The most comfortable.
- The most confident.
- You look great.
- What you’re wearing makes you feel great!
- Others notice your style and confidence and recognize it as yours.
In essence, it’s perfect! If you struggle with any of the things I just listed – this series is for you. Over the next few weeks – probably the next couple of months I will be unraveling style and sharing a lot of information with you that will help you get to where you want to be – style wise.
In today’s post, the second in this series we are going to discuss style types. Style types kinda identify how you like to dress. What fabrics do you like? What silhouette of clothing do you gravitate towards? What message do you want to give when you meet people? Knowing the answers to these questions will help you determine your personal style and help you select clothing a little easier.
Let’s get started!
There are a ton of different style types, but I’m going to focus on seven. Those seven style types are:
- Classic
- Romantic
- Boho
- Edgy
- Athletic
- Casual
- Preppy
CLASSIC STYLE AESTHETIC
Classic style describes a person’s personality towards timeless looks, simple and elegant cuts, choice of fine natural fabrics, and matching accessories such as leather shoes and handbags.
ROMANTIC STYLE AESTHETIC
Romantic styles have been around since Ancient Greek times and became especially popular in the 19th century during the Victorian era. This aesthetic is all about high waistlines, silk, lace, and billowing sleeves.
BOHO STYLE AESTHETIC
Boho style is characterized by long flowing or tiered skirts and dresses, peasant blouses, ethnic touches like tunics or wood jewelry, embroidery or embellishment with beading, fringed handbags, and jeweled or embellished flat footwear. The look is often layered and sometimes very colorful.
EDGY STYLE AESTHETIC
Edgy style reflects the idea of unconventional and different. Think bold, defiant and cool. Women with an edgy style aesthetic are not afraid to take risks with their wardrobe choices.
ATHLEISURE/ATHLETIC STYLE AESTHETIC
Athleisure/Athletic style takes sporty clothing made from technical fabrics, which might normally be worn to the gym, and integrating these pieces into your everyday casual wardrobe. This style is effortless and versatile style.
CASUAL STYLE AESTHETIC
Casual style is a Western dress code that is relaxed, occasional, spontaneous and suited for everyday wear.
PREPPY STYLE AESTHETIC
The preppy aesthetic, characterized by crisp button downs, khakis, loafers and polos with popped collars, has been making waves since the look has been sold by retailers such as J. Crew, Banana Republic and Ralph Lauren.
I hope this post helps you to find your personal style. Just know that most people don’t fall into one of the aforementioned types. You more than likely fit under two style types which is what makes it your personal style. My personal style is a combination of classic and romantic. I love a blazer and jeans, but I also LOVE a dress and heels. I love floral prints, dainty jewelry and all things girly…so I fall into two major style types.
