Hand Lettering Home Decor Using Tombow Dual Brush Pens

Hey y'all!!! My previous post showcased how I used hand lettering in the organization of my laundry room. There was a last minute addition that I added to the space that used hand lettering as a somewhat focal point in the room. The space on the wall behind my dryer essentials was kinda blank and I felt "something" needed to be put there. I thought long and hard about the "something" and decided I should use some of my crafty stash and hand lettering of course, so add that little "something."[...]

Scripture Lettering

Hello everyone!!! Just about every year one of my goals is to strengthen my relationship with God. I do this by ensuring that I attend church regularly, read a few spiritual books, etc…at the end of January of 2018, I decided to start scripture lettering. There are a few Instagram accounts that post scripture writing prompts every month, but I decided to letter the scripture instead of writing it. Not only do I spend a good 20 minutes in the Word (depending on how many verses are in that part[...]

Lettering on Fabric!!!

Hey y’all! Last summer (I think?!?!) I had a blog post on organization. I had organized the space under my kitchen sink and added some lettering to the storage containers I used. This post is similar, but I am lettering on….fabric!!! Over the Christmas holiday, the amazing Amanda Arneill had a blog post on hand lettering on pillow cases. Now, I definitely loved that idea, but I wanted to showcase my lettering in a different way. My father is an AMAZING carpenter!!! I mean…outstanding!!![...]

Hey y’all!!! I hope you’re noticing a theme so far in my blog posts – practical ways to practice your lettering and a little inspiration or treating yourself while doing so. If you’re anything like me, you struggle finding the time to practice your lettering. You work full-time, you have children to raise or quite simply – life happens. With all of us leading such busy lives, there’s no wonder we have a hard time lettering daily. In one of my first blog posts I think I shared that I[...]

Having the Right Tools…at All Times!

So…I’m still excited about 2018; and to ensure that I’m staying on track with achieving my hand lettering goals for the year I had to purchase a few things. That’s right! I have a slight shopping addiction. LOL!!! Well, I didn’t purchase a few things, I only needed one thing...a new pen case. In my previous post I shared that I have a full time career. I absolutely LOVE my job!!! I mean, I really do! With that being said, it is kinda hard to find the time to practice my lettering. Beca[...]

Setting Hand Lettering Goals – 2018

Happy New Year!!! It is finally 2018 and I couldn’t be more excited about your hand lettering journey!!! Let’s start the New Year off right with setting goals. I think it is extremely important to set goals when learning something new or you decide that you want to get better at something. Instead of trying to letter like blah blah blah hand lettering artist, let’s set some realistic hand lettering goals so that you aren’t going through the entire year feeling like you just can’t achie[...]

If I knew then…what I know now

I've been getting a lot of questions lately like "where do I start" and "what supplies should I use?" These are all very good questions. If you're anything like me, you want to dive right in and start lettering all of the words in the english dictionary. WRONG!!! Don't be like me. LOL!!! I can say that because I typically dive head first into any and all things. My brain does NOT work well with compartmentalization. It runs full speed ahead. I'm also one of those people who want to be good at EV[...]

Pens! Oh how I love thee!!!

The specific pens you use for hand lettering depend on a few things: 1) the size of your hand lettering project; 2) your project medium (what you are lettering on); 3) your desired color for your lettering; and 4) the effects of your project. Since August 2016 (when I first started lettering), I have purchased over 100 pens! I know that sounds like a lot, but because of the things listed above - you use different pens for different types of projects. The first brush pen set I purchased for[...]
