Hey pretty girl! It sure has been a while since I’ve posted on the blog! I know. I know. Life happens and we are all so busy!!! Since my last post I have started working in a new office, we are in a pandemic and I have started a garden; which is why you are here to read this post – at least I hope that’s why you’re here!
Mid March 2020 COVID-19 became a pandemic. I’ll be honest with you. I believe I thought about starting my garden a couple of weeks prior to that. I was snooping around YouTube (like always) and I came across the channel of an IG friend (@thiswellplannedlife) who shared a video of how she had started her seeds in her home greenhouse! I got super excited!!! The next next day I got in full “Robyn Mode” (this means that I did A LOT of research on gardening LOL!!!) and I knew that this spring I would at least do some potted plants around my home.
Fast forward a week or so, the world was in shock at how this pandemic totally upended the way we do business (or I was at least). I knew then that starting a garden was the way to go. It was definitely confirmation that I needed to start my garden and start it now! Even if my plants didn’t yield anything, I wanted to at least try it.
I had a conversation with my mom, my younger sister and a few sorority sisters about the idea and they were EXTREMELY SUPPORTIVE and ENCOURAGING! I purchased a couple of 4′ x 4′ raised garden beds from Amazon, some compost, vermiculite, peat moss, a few veggie starters and I was ready!!!

By the end of March, my employer decided that we would be teleworking 100%! This was music to my ears because it meant that I would have a full month of nurturing my garden and seeing how the fruits would at least start budding.

I am going to name this series on the blog “Deeply Rooted.” I am very excited to share my gardening journey with you! There are so many different ways to garden, so many YouTubers who share tips and tricks, among resources I’m sure where you live that can help you out with starting your own garden – if you so desire.
Since I am at home for at least the next three weeks, I plan to post my garden’s progress weekly! I am so excited to have something that I know I can consistently blog about. It’s truly refreshing.
I hope you enjoyed this post and I pray that at the very least it inspires you to do “some thing.” If COVID-19 did nothing else for me, it got me do doing “some things” that I didn’t have the time to do, never found the time to do, and at the very least; it made me appreciate the many blessings that I have. Life, health, strength, family, friends, support…the list could literally go on and on. So if you do nothing else – don’t be at home sulking, be productive in your home, spend time with the family you live with, video message your loved ones if they aren’t close to you and start reconnecting and rekindling relationships.
You don’t have to garden, but I encourage you do “some thing!”
’til next time! xoxo Robyn <3
