Hey pretty girl! Welcome back to the blog! If you’ve been with me for the last two years, you know that gardening has become my latest passion. I fell in love with it at the start of 2020 and I haven’t looked back. Last year, Jackson Farms (what I lovingly call my garden) wasn’t as successful as my first go round. I started EVERYTHING late!!! I was so disappointed in myself that I was determined to get organized this year (stay tuned for future posts on organization projects) and ensure that I stayed on top of the tasks that I know need to be completed in order to have a successful garden in 2022.
Interestingly enough, having a blog is keeping me on task! I want to ensure that if you are reading pearlfectlylettered.com for gardening Inspo, you are on schedule for starting your garden with me!
I am already ahead of schedule with my seeds! I knew that the majority of the seeds that I currently have are probably a little old (that may have also played a part in the lack of success in last years’ garden), so I ordered my seeds in January! It may seem a little early now, but once you really get into gardening, you’ll realize that you have to get things in early in order to stay on target (or get seeds before they run out).
I spent a little over $100 on seeds this year and I’m really excited to start gardening this spring! I purchased all of my seeds from Baker Creek. I’ve been using them since I started gardening. They are an online source and I think their prices are very reasonable. Another reason (if not the most important reason) I buy from Baker Creek is because they have a TON of heirloom seeds. Heirlooms are like vintage (if you’re into fashion) seeds. They are old and the fruits produced are unlike any fruit you’ll find in your regular grocery store. I absolutely LOVE that! This year (and going forward) I plan to learn a little bit more about the seeds that I’m planting. I want to know the types of fruits (vegetables) Jackson Farms will yield. If this doesn’t make sense, it will as you read further into the post.
Here’s what I plan to sow this year!
Prior to gardening, I referred to vegetables and vegetables and I thought they were pretty much the same. Not in regard to taste, but I didn’t know that there were different categories of vegetables. In the list above, I listed the seeds that I’m sowing based on the type of vegetables they are. That’s the nerd coming out of me. LOL! I’m always really interested in every aspect of things that I do. I really think that knowing as much as possible about the gardening process, different types of vegetables, different types of soil, etc. will give me more insight and make Jackson Farms more successful in the future.
I hope you enjoyed reading this post! If you plan on gardening this year, please share what seeds you’re sowing in the comments! I’d love to hear about your gardening plans.
’til next time!
