Hey pretty girl! Welcome back to the blog. In today’s post I am sharing my gardening plans for fall/winter 2024. It’s been a long time since I’ve shared gardening content on the blog, but I plan to share more since I have been way more consistent with blogging as of late. LOL!
If I’m being honest, spring 2024 was kind of a bust for me with regard to gardening. In the summer of 2023, I suffered from some really bad lower back pain which had a negative impact on my garden. I have 6 raised garden beds that are only 12 inches off of the ground which made it very hard for me to enjoy gardening. It is times like this that make being a single girl very difficult. Anywho…..because of the issues I experienced last year, I knew that I wanted to get my raised bed elevated as well as adding some sort of ledge to ensure that I had a place to sit if I needed to while gardening.
If you are new to gardening and you need to know what supplies I recommend for beginners and/or you have a gardener to shop for this holiday season, you can check out my gift guide here.
In February of this year, I actually spoke to a contractor to add some wood to my garden beds to elevate them and he just disappeared! I had spent hundreds of dollars on wood and supplies which sat in my backyard for months!!! I was so bummed, that it honestly affected my mood towards gardening. It was very devastating because for the past four years I had much success in the garden. Fast forward to June of this year, I finally got the raised beds completed and now I back in the groove of things.
WHERE I BUY MY SEEDS?
Let’s talk about where I get my seeds. I get this question a lot! Especially after I share fruit from my harvests because the fruit rarely looks like the fruit you buy in stores. I buy heirloom seeds from Baker Creek. I have been buying seeds from them since I started gardening and 2020 and I haven’t looked back! Their seed packets are extremely affordable and they include so much information on them that it makes seed sowing that much easier! I’ll share the different varieties of seeds sown in a future blog post. All of these photos were taken on November 17, 2024.
WHAT SEEDS AM I SOWING?
I am really excited to share my plans for Jackson Farms and all of the wonderful fruits (vegetables) that I’m growing this year. It’s not a whole lot, but they are fruits that I eat and/or really need to consume more of.
- Carrots – sown on October 31, 2024
- Beets – sown on October 31, 2024
- Spinach – sown on October 31, 2024
- Arugula – sown on November 7, 2024
- Garlic – sown on November 2, 2024
- Brussels Sprouts – sown on November 7, 2024
I hope you enjoyed this post, all about what’s growing in Jackson Farms. What are your gardening plans? What’s growing in your garden? I’d love to hear all about it in the comments.
’til next time!
xo, Robyn
