Hey pretty girl! Although it is the beginning of May and we are well into Spring, the weather isn’t as warm as it usually is down here in good ‘ole Alabama. Nevertheless, my spring plants are blossoming! I started my spring garden a little over a month ago and it has truly been exciting to watch everything grow!

If this is the first post you’ve read in the Deeply Rooted Series, just and FYI – this is my first time planting a garden. Before I started the garden, I watched a ton of YouTube videos and did a little research on the good ‘ole www, and through my research I found that the number one question is – What should I plant in my garden?
When this question is asked of gardeners, the typical answer is “plant what you eat.” This was not a really easy question for me because I really don’t eat a lot of vegetables (ssshhh…don’t tell anybody). I knew I wanted tomatoes and some sort of sweet fruit like strawberries, but I didn’t have a whole list of fruit that I wanted to plant.
As I started to develop my list, the COVID-19 pandemic came around and it kinda ruined my plans…well…it didn’t make things any easier for me. I visited local nurseries and most of the starters were gone, I didn’t see many seed packs and the starters that were available didn’t look as strong; so much so I didn’t have to pay for the cantaloupe and spinach starters. I literally walked through nurseries and picked up whatever I could find.
But this isn’t a post about the not-so good things…this is a post on what I actually planted in the garden!!! So let’s get to the list!!! Below is a list of the fruits planted:
- Roma tomatoes
- Husky Cherry Tomatoes
- Green Beans
- Cucumbers
- Melons
- Watermelon
- Squash
- Zucchini
- Sugar Snap Peas
- Broccoli
- Summer Yellow Pepper
- Red Bell Pepper
- Green Bell Pepper
- Serrano Chili Pepper
- Romaine Lettuce
- Peppermint
- Carrot
- Radish
- Strawberry
- Chamomile
- Lavender
- Parsley
- Basil

I hope you enjoyed this post.
’til next time! xoxo, Robyn
